Crate training

The Best Crate Setup for a Cavapoo Puppy

Cavapoos are a small breed with a big opinion about being alone. The right crate size and a predictable routine turn crate training from a week of crying into two or three nights of adjustment.

The crate itself

  • MidWest iCrate 24" with divider

The size we recommend for most Cavapoos (adult 12–20 lb). Divider keeps the puppy space small while potty training.

  • MidWest iCrate 30" with divider

Choose this instead if your Cavapoo is tracking toward 20+ lb.

  • Soft-sided travel crate

For car trips and grandma's house — not for unsupervised chewers.

Inside the crate

  • Washable crate pad

Low-loft and machine washable. Skip thick beds until potty training is solid.

  • Snuggle puppy with heartbeat

The single biggest difference-maker for first-week night crying.

  • Crate cover

Darkness cues sleep — a light blanket over three sides works too.

Cleanup & accidents

  • Enzymatic cleaner

Removes the scent marker so accidents don't repeat in the same spot.

  • Waterproof crate tray liner

Saves the floor underneath during the first few weeks.

Breeder notes

  • Size rule: your puppy should stand, turn around, and lie down — nothing bigger, or they'll potty in one corner and sleep in the other.
  • Feed meals in the crate with the door open so it becomes the good-things place.
  • Night one: crate beside your bed, last potty break right before lights out, and expect one middle-of-the-night trip.
  • Never use the crate as punishment — it has to stay their safe room.
  • Puppies can generally hold it about one hour per month of age, plus one, overnight.
